The Stamford English Curriculum is where our young students learn Standard English through role-plays, expressions, quality literature and more. Every child will learn language rules and sentence components through attractive characters, with accompanying songs and brain development games carefully crafted and implemented by our Stamford experienced trainers.

Our young learners achieve outstanding communication skills at an early age. For example, our students at 5 years of age start reading articles from The Straits Times. So, how is that done?

The key is to start early as it is all about having the right foundation.

This is the best time to start, as the child reacts very well to our brain training methods. The learning objective is for our students to achieve their first stage of A to Z phonics sounds, 1000 first words and more.

With basic sounds, our students are more reactive to new words at this stage. They start blending. Relevant training will include phonics reading of words such as bl-a-ck and br-i-ck. With these skills, the learning objectives are for our students to achieve a good vocabulary of blend sounds, more than 2000 words and more.

At Phase 2, our students will already be familiar with reading more than 2000 words and simple passages. Phase 3 is the consolidation phase where the learning objectives are for our students to learn advanced phonics such as consonant and vowel digraphs to READ AND SPELL longer, more complex words such as bl-a-ck-sm-i-th.

In terms of reading and spelling, we are conscious that our students have been prepared to be above the required MOE Primary 1 & 2 requirements. But Primary 1 is not just about reading and spelling. Primary 1 requires students to answer comprehension questions and write a good 50 word composition, accounting for tenses, punctuation and vocabulary. As such, at Phase 4, the Stamford System goes above and beyond. Our learning objectives include preparing our students for creative writing, comprehension techniques and general reading, which includes articles from the Straits Times.

At Stamford, unlike the traditional preschools, we do not build our language programmes around routine flash cards, memorizing certain poems and spelling words.

Our outstanding results are a consequence of unlocking functions within the whole brain while teaching the child proper reading and literacy skills. Our holistic programme is designed to give our students the best-needed start for their many years of learning and beyond.  That explains our thousands of learning results.
